16Copenhagen National Museums of Scotland on their new HTML5 site: http://16copenhagen.com/… @NtlMuseumsScot
@andrewsenter @nevstokes it’s working again. The ol’ switch-it-off-and-on-again-four-times trick…
@nevstokes darnit. But they’re over on that shelf there and I’m over here and my legs are asleep. Any other suggestions?
Any idea what to do when your iMac stops recognising your Bluetooth keyboard and mouse? Can only access it via iPad VNC at the moment.
I rarely #ff but I do recommend @badbanana and @DalaiLamaInBed for great amusement. In bed.
There are actually umpteen They Might Be Giants songs under 10seconds but they’re not on Spotify. #fridaymix #wouldhavebeenfunny
Have to keep reminding myself: if you think you’ve spotted a giant gap in the market, you’ve probably misunderstood something.
@jennifermadine Star-nosed moles are covered in chapter 3 of my new book. As you well know.
@alexturnbull congrats, virtual high five!
( ^_^)/\(^-^ )
@sherred of ourse
@fridaymix will the #themepolice be making sure it’s ‘winter’ and not ‘christmas’ ?
Okay, three: to continue to sync but with the new computer. Maybe four if you include transferring developer profiles too. #stoopidcomputers
Okay, I want two things: to be able to plug my phone in *and* to not have it erased when I do so.
Urgh. Why is it so hard to set up a new Mac? All I want is to be able to plug my phone into it. This shouldn’t be so complicated.
Is there an easy way to change which mac your iPhone syncs to without losing data/photos? How about app dev provisioning profiles?
@fraserwaters somewhere between simple and impossible.
@fraserwaters Cufon for me.

Has anyone got a copy of yesterday’s (10th Nov) Scotsman they haven’t thrown yet? I’m looking for one for a… personal project…
Why on earth are there two Stop Codes on each lothian bus stop? When it’s chucking down, it’s not easy to differentiate actual and example.
@chris_mcdevitt I have apparently not been paying enough attention to my CSS variants. Ta.
So zencoding is to HTML as CoffeeScript is to JS as *what* is to CSS?
Ugh, other people’s code makes me sad: <div class = “right_floated_purple_h2”>
@cole007 Ta. I feel like there should be some patriotic music in the background. And maybe a waxed moustache.
@sherred Ta very much.
RWW Scotland Trailblazes the Use of HMTL5 in Museums http://rww.to/bbYPPj
@cole007 Some kind of rubber or latex-based layout, at any rate…
@cole007 Zoomed in is absolutely fine. It’s zoomed out browsing that’s bothering me.
I’m surprised how many Firefox users enable ‘Zoom Text only’ then browse zoomed out one step. It’s more than none. That’s surprising.
@sherred Yeah. They admitted they do make automated out-going calls asking for bank details. I’m not convinced that’s the best idea.
I just called my bank to find out if the fraud-check phonecall I received was from them. They have no idea. That’s reassuring.
@mrwalker good point. I have heard good things about it, just not actually tried it out yet.
.@stevenhope GIMP’s doing a good job of ruling itself out after taking 9 minutes to launch.
Sunday afternoon. Perfect for that old Photoshop vs Pixelmator vs Acorn vs GIMP debate again…
plexapp RT @bramus: On Plex/Nine — http://www.bram.us/2010/… // Great article on Plex/Nine design and evolution.
@bouncingdan I picture a line of easy write-on Kindle cases. That or a USB stick and a sharpie.
Been debating with myself for 20mins on the most ‘semantically correct’ way to do image replacement these days.
Geek-panic in real-time: http://twitter.com/#!/se…
I really shouldn’t enjoy using fake credit card numbers to test transactions nearly as much as I do.
@salidatious First one, then t’other…
@nevstokes oh, that’s on TV just now. Right.
@nevstokes the only programme I’ve seen doing it is #bbchignfy
I simultaneously manage to think the font Museo is completely overused and continue to use it myself because it’s really very nice.
Currently playing the role of grandmother in an egg-sucking masterclass.
Part 1 of the Museum website redesign write-up: http://bit.ly/dqub8j Part 2 (next week) covers the tech.
@ben_seven Sweet! Kinda gives me a warm, fuzzy, geeky, feeling.
@olly valid point, though. I’ll mention something about standards in the post.
@olly Thought that might be the case. It doesn’t support HTML 5 yet. The author’s waiting until it’s completely finalised.
@fraserwaters That’s not a question about the website is it? Oh, you mean that /other/ big project…
Excellent questions from @andrewsenter, @sherred, @olly, @michellecrawley I’ll get writing that blog post. Or two.
@olly Are you checking with the Firefox HTML Validation extension?
Currently writing a blog post about the redevelopment of http://www.nms.ac.uk/ Anyone got any questions?
Look, shiny - the new National Museums Scotland site: http://www.nms.ac.uk/
@salidatious meadows staff said they’d have them today but none of the other edin branches would until tomorrow. Dunno why.
I realise w3c validation isn’t /everything/ but at least it’s /something/
Explanating is now also available as an eBook on Lulu: http://thng.in/g
The ‘scoped’ attribute on style elements will be fantastically useful as soon as it stops being completely unusable (not back compatible).
Having a fun morning playing around with CSS3 striped repeating backgrounds.
@mobweb_ch That’s an odd one. I’ve got it working landscape and portrait. I’ll have a look and see what’s up…
